Sizing

Find the Perfect Tennis Court for Your Home

full-size tennis court for USTA (United States Tennis Association) play measures 60 feet wide by 120 feet long, totaling 7,200 square feet. This includes the recommended clear space around the court. Within that area, the singles court is 27 feet wide by 78 feet long, and the doubles court is 36 feet wide by 78 feet long.

If a regulation-size court isn’t an option due to space, budget, or preference, a 50 × 100 foot court is a popular alternative. It maintains full-sized doubles lines while reducing the overall footprint and construction costs.

For even smaller-scale play, especially for younger players, short court tennis options follow the USTA ROGY model:

  • Red level courts are 30 x 50 feet with 18 x 36 feet playing lines and a lower net (2 ft 9 in), using soft, slow-moving red balls ideal for beginners.

  • Orange level courts are 40 x 70 feet with 27 x 60 feet playing lines, with slightly faster orange balls and a net height of 3 ft at center.

These scaled-down courts offer a practical, player-friendly way to enjoy tennis at any skill level or court size.

Full-Size Tennis Court

60 ft x 120 ft

50 ft x 100 ft

For serious players, a regulation-size tennis court is the best option. This layout with 78' x 36' lines meets official standards for both singles and doubles play, providing the full experience of the game. With a total footprint of 7,200 square feet, including safe run-off space, this is ideal for high-level training, competitive matches, or anyone who wants the real feel of a tournament court at home.

Best for:
✔ Competitive players or serious training
✔ Private tennis facilities and clubs
✔ Homeowners with ample space

Mid-Size Tennis Court (Orange Level)

40 ft x 70 ft

This sizing would have 27' x 60' playing lines and is a great alternative for those looking to enjoy tennis in a more compact space. While smaller than a regulation court, it still allows for high-quality practice and recreational play. Many youth and beginner programs use this size to develop skills before transitioning to a full court.

Best for:
✔ Recreational players who want more space than a short court
✔ Youth tennis development and beginner training
✔ Homeowners with limited space

Short Court Tennis (Red Level)

36' x 50' or 60'

Short court tennis is a scaled-down version of the game, often used for beginners, younger players, or casual play. This court contains 18' x 36' playing lines and provides a fun, controlled environment where players can focus on technique without the challenge of a full-size court. It’s also a great multi-purpose space, as it can easily accommodate pickleball, badminton, or other net sports.

Best for:
✔ Families with young kids or beginners learning the game
✔ Multi-game courts that include pickleball or badminton
✔ Casual, social tennis matches in a backyard setting

8 Steps to Building Your Court

Customer satisfaction and service are our top priorities. From start to finish our team will be with you through the process, and we will continue to follow-up and stay with you well beyond the completion of your court construction. There are 8 steps to our sales and court construction customer service commitment.

1. Welcome

In this Introductory Phase - you get to know our product offerings, the sales representative you will be working with and our company. We also get to know your wants, needs, the space and budget. At the end of these conversations, we should both be able to decide if our company and products are a good fit for you.

2. Design & Estimate

You’ve entered the Design & Estimate stage of building your dream.  In this stage we’ll conduct a full on-site evaluation, help solidify a court design and address all of the questions you may have.

Our goal for this stage is to learn your property, your vision of the project and help design the best space possible for you. We want to help you fully understand your property, our solutions and the costs associated – getting you all the information needed to decide whether to move forward with the project or not.

3. Contract & Down Payment

Congratulations, you’ve entered the Contract Stage of your project and have agreed to move forward with the project. You should have a size, location and design agreed upon verbally with your sales rep.

Our goal in this step is for you to fully understand the scope of work, our responsibilities, and your responsibilities throughout the scope of the project. Here we collect an initial payment to procure materials and get the construction process started.

4. Project Queue

Now you are in our Project Queue where we work on projects in a first in, first out manner.  All customers are required to have completed the design and contract phases before being assigned an internal job number, product ordered and placed in the queue.

During this time, we are dedicating our resources to expertly completing other projects, ensuring a top-quality product. When we get to your project, we guarantee you'll have the same experience. We are also procuring and receiving all your finish out materials and preparing to execute your project.

5. Site Prep/ Concrete Work

You are now in the Site Prep/ Concrete Work Phase.  Your project is about to start! Soon we will be mobilizing crews to complete the base of your court.

Reminder: by this point you should have done all of the following tasks:

  • Called 811 for an inspection and marking of utility lines.
  • HOA and/or city approvals completed.
  • Irrigation capping/ rerouting in the immediate area of the court.
  • Any pre-landscaping completed.
  • Tree Removal (if not in our scope).
  • Site Preparation (if not in our scope).
  • Informing Neighbors of upcoming project.

How Does This Work?

  1. We will confirm the location of the court. We will be having an onsite meeting to layout the court corners with the concrete crew. It’s vitally important to be at this meeting and approve the plan. If you cannot make this meeting, please give me a call to reschedule. After this meeting, any changes to the location, elevation or size of the court will likely cost additional money and time. During this meeting we will:
    • Mark the corners of the court and you will need to approve them.
    • Discuss Access point for equipment.
    • Locate Utility & water shutoff point
  2. Site preparation: Remove any agreed upon trees and begin excavation/ leveling the area for the slab.
  3. Form the perimeter of the court including any retaining walls and turn down beams. This may include hauling in fill material.
  4. Concrete Pour – Once the area is prepared, there will be a 1-day concrete pour where all of the concrete will be placed and finished. Please review important details below to help execute this day as smoothly as possible. I will send you another notice at least 1 day prior to pour to remind you of the details below.

This phase typically takes 1 to 3 weeks.

6. Component Installation

In this stage our crew comes out to install any components, basketball goals, fencing, net adjustment systems, and any other accessories you decided on for your court.

We take special care to install each component with care and precision.

7. Surface Installation

Now that the concrete is placed and curing you are in the Surface Installation Phase. In this phase your surface is professional installed by trained Sport Court® installers.

The finishing touches of your court will be completed during these steps. Once your court looks beautiful give it a couple days for the painted lines to dry and your enjoying time with loved ones.

8. Final Walkthrough and Fun

All we have left is a final walkthrough with to deliver the court, teach you how to use all the court components, and take final photos.  If you have any concerns or questions, this will be the time to bring these up. Please have as many people from your family as possible for this demonstration of how the court works.
